Mobility Vehicle and Lifestyle Product Funding Options

Lifestyle & Mobility understand that the cost of mobility scooters, wheelchairs, and powerchairs can all be daunting. That’s why we are committed to helping direct our customers to funding sources which allow you to take advantage of the full potential of high-end mobility products.

You may be pleased to learn that there are a great many organisations out there which can help with funding for specialist equipment, or even indoor adaptations to your home. These funding sources provide for all ages, with some specialising in children’s mobility products, such as paediatric wheelchairs, and others assisting in the procurement of lightweight folding mobility scooters. In this article, we’ll be taking a closer look at some of the options out there to secure you the ideal mobility solutions.

What NHS Wheelchair Services Can Do For You

The best-known funding source for mobility products in the UK is probably the NHS Local Wheelchair Services. The NHS is obliged to provide wheelchairs to those in need of them free of charge as part of your Personal Wheelchair Budget. Part of this process consists of having an NHS therapist assess your needs and prescribe a wheelchair. This will, however, be a product which meets only your minimum requirements.

Consequently, many wheelchair users opt to put their assigned budget towards a more high-spec or bespoke product in the form of a voucher to spend with a third-party supplier, e.g. Lifestyle & Mobility.

What Other Mobility Funding Options Are Out There?

As mentioned, mobility charities throughout the UK provide for users of all ages. One prominent paediatric mobility vehicle fund provider is AFK, formerly Action for Kids – they have a strong track record of providing powered and manual mobility products to children and teenagers across the UK.

Lifestyle & Mobility can gladly assist you whenever possible, with applications to charities such as AFK for mobility grants. Feel free to reach out to us about this, whether at one of our stores, online, or by phone.

When it comes to indoor lifestyle considerations for those living with mobility limiting conditions, funding options also exist. Local authorities provide Disabled Facilities Grants to help cover the cost of accessible bathroom facilities, stairlifts, ramps, and much more. If you have an Occupational Therapist, they can apply for a grant on your behalf. If the grant application is successful, a third-party dealer can provide the lifestyle products you are eligible for support with.

Further Funding Options

There is of course the Motability scheme, in which we are pleased to say that we are an accredited and experienced provider.

Finally, perhaps the most recent additions to the funding option scene are various crowdfunding websites. Lifestyle & Mobility have seen many customers needing high-end prescriptive mobility vehicles quickly meet their fundraising goals in the past. We are more than happy to assist you with tips and tricks in making yourself the latest crowdfunding success story.

This information only touches the surface of what the funding options out there are. Our Lifestyle & Mobility website has a dedicated funding options page for you to explore.
