September 2025 is Vascular Disease Awareness Month in the UK. The Circulation Foundation is one of the main charitable organisations involved with this initiative.

This awareness month is intended to raise awareness of vascular disease in its many forms, and to support patients with it. “vascular disease” is a catch-all term for conditions affecting the circulatory system. Whilst these are roughly as common as cancer in the UK, and can very easily be debilitating or fatal, they are not necessarily as well-known. To give just one example, Peripheral Arterial Disease might not be a very familiar term, but it can cost sufferers a limb.
At Lifestyle & Mobility, given the nature of the work which we do, it is sadly all too often that we encounter the potentially devastating effects of vascular disease. As with so many types of mobility-limiting illness, not only the sufferer themselves, but their friends and family, are all affected. Through working at our company, we are of course familiar with the many living aids and mobility solutions available in the 21st century. But it isn’t controversial to say that the world would be a better place if people never experienced the sorts of health conditions which lead them to require such products in the first place.
Prevention vs Cure
There’s an old saying that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. In many cases of vascular disease, this rings very true. Because, after all, there are steps which we can all take to reduce the risk of developing such diseases in the first place. Keeping the heart healthy is a core part of this. After all, the heart is at the centre of the circulatory system (the body’s network of veins and arteries) That means regular exercise is a vital weapon against vascular disease. Unsurprisingly then, for Vascular Disease Awareness Month, the Circulation Foundation is encouraging people to get active in support of its efforts against this collection of illnesses. You can learn more here about what’s on, and, if you want, how to get involved.
