Richard Chiassaro on the Podium in 2019At Lifestyle & Mobility, we have been fortunate enough to work with a variety of inspirational figures. Richard Chiassaro, Essex native and Team GB Paralympian, is one of the latest iconic people we’ve had the privilege of involvement with.

Besides his sporting career, Harlow-based Chiassaro is active in his local community. Eight years ago, he started his own racing squad to help people with disabilities into sport. Athletes involved with this program range from children just starting out on their journey to fully-fledged Invictus Games athletes. Richard has this to say about his regular involvement at the Harlow Athletics Club with this program of his:

“Seeing them [the budding Paralympians] get stronger, fitter, and healthier, is something I love, and without sport their quality of life wouldn’t be as good”

Richard Chiassaro has enjoyed a glittering career in wheelchair racing so far. Highlights of his medal cabinet include a treble of silvers and a gold from the 2016 IPC Athletics European Championships in Italy, a bronze medal from the following year’s IPC Athletics World Championships. 2016 was a big year for him personally, as he was selected to represent Team GB at the Paralympic Games in Rio.

He also made the podium at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai, with a bronze.

This year, Richard will be heading across the Channel to France to compete in the 2024 Paralympic Games. These take place from 28th August to 8th September. Lifestyle & Mobility will be watching intently, and we hope you will too!
