These days, most mobility scooters are equipped with at least one light, in the interests of driving in darker conditions. In the past, these lights would usually have used traditional halogen bulbs. LED lights on scooters have taken over more and more. Considering that mobility scooters run all their systems off battery power, and that they are designed to need minimal user maintenance, LED lights are an obvious choice.
Because LED lights last an average of five times longer than halogen bulbs, they require less in the way of changing. They also put less strain on mobility scooter batteries, since they use only about 15% of the energy required by halogen bulbs to produce the same amount of light. That translates into longer travel range per charge. It is hardly surprising then, that LEDs are taking over within the industry. Even on the largest and most rugged of mobility scooters, this technological change can be observed. The Scooterpac Invader Xtreme, an offroad-tailored giant of a scooter, uses high power LED technology on that massive front light, pictured below:

In fact, besides a few large and market-established mobility scooters, such as the Drive Devilbiss Royale 4, it is harder to find mobility scooters with halogen bulbs.
The Future of Mobility Scooter Lighting
The future of scooter lighting promises new developments above and beyond LED lights on scooters. For instance, more widespread underglow lighting for mobility scooters is a distinct possibility. With mobility scooters becoming more stylish and varied, and new premium products emerging all the time, the logical expectation is that luxury features will quickly become standard. In short, mobility scooters have come a long way already, and there’s more to come.
In the meantime, there’s at least one mobility scooter available to buy in the UK with underglow lighting – the LuXe Mobility X700 DeluXe, shown on the right. Hit the pavement in style with this sleek mobility vehicle. You’ll be sure to turn a few heads!
