With autumn approaching, the time is ripe to consider all-weather scooters. Unpredictable conditions require a scooter which you can rely on. Particularly if you are planning to travel a little off the beaten track. It’s time to explore the more rugged and versatile side of mobility scooters.
Built-in Canopies
So, you want protection from the elements? Well, when it comes to keeping you sheltered from heat, wind, rain and more, a scooter which comes with a canopy as standard is a strong choice. Lifestyle & Mobility stock a variety of these. In this blog, we’ll consider key performance specifications for three of them. These scooters come from three different manufacturers, and each has slightly different strengths. On the top left is the Motion Healthcare Xplorer. In the centre is the Electric Mobility Vortex with the optional product-specific canopy on it. On the right is the Drive Royale 4 Sport.
Key Specifications to Consider
Whilst two of these three scooters fall within a similar price bracket – the Xplorer is somewhat more expensive – there are differences in specifications between all three. Note that these specs are all shown for these when the larger battery option is selected.
The All-Weather Driving Experience
As the above shows, the Xplorer offers a more premium ride experience than the Vortex or the Royale 4 Sport. This is reflected in the pricing. That price is £6,995, when bought online. The online price for the 100Ah Vortex variant with a solid-topped, soft-sided, canopy is £4,595. For the Royale 4 Sport with the 100Ah battery option, that price is £4,875. Note that these prices are all excluding any delivery and set-up charges which may apply, and with the Disability VAT Exemption applied. Also, they are correct as of August 2025 and subject to change. However, they do illustrate how, with mobility scooters, as with other powered vehicles, you do tend to get what you pay for. Though it depends what, exactly, you want to get for your money!
