Mobility Scooters in Winter – Tips & Tricks

Keep Your Scooter Moving this Winter

In Britain, using mobility scooters in winter carries its own unique challenges. This blog will provide advice on how to navigate the season in confidence and style. This may include accessories to guard against inclement weather. What works against rain, will serve against sleet and snow also – something which we will examine in more detail in this article. We will also look into how to care for your scooter in cold weather.

Additionally, for those who may be considering buying a new scooter and would like a rugged, multiple terrain vehicle, you’ll find suggestions.

Weatherproof Your Scooter

Some mobility scooters come with optional canopies, such as the LuXe Mobility X1000 Cargo. However, alternative canopy and storage cover options are readily available. One mobility scooter canopy, which is well-suited to deal with even falling snow, is the Scooterpac Folding Canopy. This is specially designed to be compatible with a huge range of scooters. Checking compatibility could hardly be easier.

If you’re looking for a way to protect your mobility scooter from bad weather this winter whilst it is parked up, Lifestyle & Mobility have you covered – literally!

Our cold and wet weather scooter cover range makes using mobility scooters in winter more practical than ever before. Starting at just £57 with the Disability VAT Exemption applied, you can sort yourself out with a cover against rain, sleet and snow. Deluxe, lined, mobility scooter weather covers are also available to purchase in all sizes. You can find these both online and in our various stores.

Even if it isn’t the whole of your mobility scooter which you want to protect from the wind, the rain, and more, we can help you out. There are tiller covers available to protect the electronic controls of your scooter from the elements. The Splash Scooter Control Panel Cover is a good boot scooter choice.

Offroad Mobility Scooters

When the weather gets worse, some customers consider upgrading to a more all-terrain, offroad enabled mobility scooter. These tend to fall into the “Large Mobility Scooter” section of our website, but there are some robust little gems. Let’s take a look at some of these now.

Good ground clearance in mobility scooters, as well as the capacity to handle steeper gradients, are both important considerations for outdoor usage. One example of a medium sized mobility scooter which impresses in those areas is the LuXe Mobility X700 DeluXe. This scooter has over 8cm of ground clearance and can handle slope gradients of up to 15 degrees. In the colder months, the heated seat will also come in handy.

A well-loved classic amongst smaller scooters is the TGA Zest Plus Mobility Scooter. Since it comes apart into five pieces, it is technically a boot scooter, although it performs far better than a scooter of that sort would be expected to. The Zest Plus is characterised by robust build, potent suspension, enhanced range, and a generously upholstered seat. it is a staple consideration for the more outdoorsy user who doesn’t want to break the bank.
