Glad to Care - Care workers recognition

The massive contribution of care workers to UK society is easily overlooked. Glad to Care awareness week is about acknowledging Britain’s care workers and celebrating them. They certainly deserve it. Anyone who knows someone who works or has worked in care will be aware of the limited public recognition (and pay) which they receive. At Lifestyle & Mobility, given the nature of our business, we meet a great many carers. So, it’s fair to say that, all across our staff, we have regular and deep insights into the vital nature of what they do.

Care Work – The Frontline for Disability Support

Many of Lifestyle & Mobility’s customers live in sheltered, supported, or care housing. Without the dedication and willpower of care workers, their quality of life would be far lower. To give one regularly encountered example, consider the issue of pressure sores in nursing home residents. In order to address this serious – potentially fatal – health condition, manually operated tilt-in-space wheelchairs are a good solution. A product of this nature allows for redistribution of weight. This means pressure relief. Which, in turn, reduces the risk of pressure sores. But, who operates and monitors these products, for users unable to do so themselves? Carers.

This same story is one which we encounter again and again here at Lifestyle & Mobility. And so, as a company, we unreservedly salute the efforts of UK care workers. Feel free to join us!
